Frequently Asked Questions
about our program
You probably know that you’re capable of passing the CPA exam, but you may be experiencing trouble passing or feel overwhelmed and unsure where to start when it comes to preparing. When you invest in professional coaching, you’re creating the focus, energy, and time needed to accomplish this big goal.
During the two-month coaching experience, you will implement new behaviors, experience successes, and setbacks, and fine-tune your plan as you go. This intimate group setting accelerates your learning experience, as it allows you to normalize your experience, receive support from others who are going through similar challenges and create accountability for execution.
The following addresses frequently asked questions about our program.
How does this program support other firm initiatives?
Demand for your professionals’ psychological resources is at an all-time high. The regulatory environment continues to be complex. As the pandemic has endured, we’ve felt destabilized outside the office and inside of our minds. The majority of CPA firms have been disrupted by excessive turnover. Many firms cite hours are down but the qualitative employee comments reveal people are burnt out.
What can a people-focused leader do?
Consider professional coaching as a benefit that reaches well beyond your partner group. This program is more than the CPA exam; it is a retention strategy. We provide an opportunity for emerging leaders to come together in a safe and supportive environment. In this confidential space, they learn they are not alone when it comes to their challenges, setbacks, and longings to become their best self. Camaraderie is fostered, retention increases, and your firm culture is strengthened.
You can’t afford to apply same-as-last-year (SALY) benefits to modern-day problems. Your staff are in a formative chapter of their career but don’t know it yet. The investment in their personal development today will yield positive technical contributions in the years to come. Join us in transforming the profession!
How is this different from the coaching offered by CPA review courses?
We are professionally trained and graduated from programs accredited by the International Coach Federation. We are also CPAs who experienced significant challenges on our path to licensure. We don’t provide mentorship and tell coachees why they should pass the exam. We help them identify what they value most, co-create a plan to achieve the results they desire, and support them in removing psychological roadblocks that undermine performance.
Can we send a group of our professionals?
Yes, you can send multiple members of your firm! Each group is limited to five participants. If a firm sponsors an entire group, we offer a 10% discount. Based on the availability of our coaches, you can also select the day and time that works best for your team.
Do participants need to be currently studying and/or preparing for the same section of the CPA Exam?
No. This program prepares candidates on critical non-technical topics that support their performance on the exam and in the workplace. It also benefits those who are looking to recover from burnout and plan to take CPA exam sections at a future date.
Does this prepare a candidate for all four sections?
This two-month experience prepares a candidate for a single exam section. Participants leave the program with new competencies, tools, and behaviors that will help them ace future sections. This being said, being held accountable each week is a big part of the program. It is possible someone might want to go through a second cohort- and they can do that if they choose.
What if I have a senior leader who is reluctant to be in a group with those who are earlier in their career?
The coaches abide by the ICF Code of Ethics, which ensures the coach is sensitive to the coachee’s identity, environment, values, and beliefs. One of the benefits of group coaching is building the skill of empathy. This happens when one hears perspectives and experiences different than their own. For this reason, diversity is an empowering element in the group coaching experience.
